Gold Coast Community Forum
About the Gold Coast
The Gold Coast is Australia's sixth largest city and boasts a diverse, vibrant and rapidly expanding community. Almost one in three (29 per cent) of the 635,000 Gold Coast residents were born overseas, with 14 per cent of households speaking a language other than English.
Close to one million visitors from across the world visit the Gold Coast annually for the vibrant arts and culture scene, beautiful natural environment and world-class tourism attractions.
Major industries on the Gold Coast include tourism, retail, health care, construction and manufacturing.
About the Gold Coast Community Forum program
In 2023 the Community Forum program expanded to include the Gold Coast. The first Gold Coast Community Forum was held at Southport on Thursday 23 November 2023.
These forums support valuable conversations between the Queensland Government and local community representatives. Forum members will discuss local priorities and opportunities to strengthen the Gold Coast economy and services, and consider what outcomes are most important to the local community.
As a Forum member, I'd like to see that we have an understanding of what the vision and opportunities are (for the region) at various levels of government, and be able to shape and contribute to this vision so the Gold Coast remains an attractive place to live and work. Hamza Vayani, Gold Coast Community Forum member.
