A new plan to support LGBTQIA+ communities to shine!
There’s a new plan to support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual plus (LGBTQIA+) communities to shine and it’s the first of its kind in Queensland.
Pride in our Communities 2024–2032 is the Queensland Government’s plan for a Queensland where diverse LGBTQIA+ communities are connected, celebrated, safe and supported to live authentically and thrive.
Pride in our Communities focuses on achieving real and meaningful change for LGBTQIA+ communities by:
- embedding an LGBTIQIA+ inclusive culture across Queensland
- fostering stronger communities and connections
- providing responsive, inclusive and accessible services.
These focus areas are representative of themes that emerged from unprecedented state-wide community engagement with LGBTQIA+ communities and the change they told us they need to live a safe, supported and equal lives.
While we have made positive strides, LGBTQIA+ Queenslanders continue to face experiences of discrimination, disadvantage, social isolation and loneliness in their everyday lives.
Pride in our communities is the continuation of a journey and the guiding light for a unified approach for the Queensland Government’s role in improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ people by strengthening government services, policies and programs.
