Mamu rangers’ work includes:

  • monitoring water quality and developing a water plan for major rivers, in partnership with Terrain NRM
  • control and monitoring of invasive weeds, in collaboration with QPWS, landholders, community groups and local government
  • mapping, monitoring and managing cultural sites such as scarred trees and bora grounds, and conservation of cultural artefacts
  • delivering educational, youth engagement activities with local schools, both in school and on-country, such as the Gungamburr nursery and revegetation project with Innisfail State High School
  • facilitating transfer of traditional knowledge from Elders to future generations
