The Quandamooka Rangers work within QYAC’s Land and Sea Management Agency. The rangers manage land and sea country across their determined native title lands and waters.
Quandamooka rangers’ work includes:
- engagement with Elders on traditional land and sea management knowledge and practices
- patrols and joint operations with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) and marine debris cleanups as required
- weed management and sand dune restoration and rehabilitation of altered coast dune system
- fire management including planned burns and wildfire response with QPWS
- feral animal management including foxes, cats and dogs in partnership with other land managers and Biosecurity Queensland
- freshwater fauna surveys in Minjerribah’s wetlands systems
- koala conservation and ReefCheck with partner organisations
- recording, protection and maintenance of cultural sites through clearing debris, fire and vegetation management
- management of Traditional Owner camping grounds
- Junior Ranger activities program for Dunwich State school, in school and on Country.
