The Minjerribah Land and Sea Rangers are a team of the Quandamooka Land and Sea Management Agency unit within QYAC. The rangers operate across their determined native title lands and waters and play an active role in managing land and sea country to protect it for future generations.
Key activities include:
- engagement with Elders on traditional land and sea management knowledge and practices
- patrols and joint operations with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS)
- sand dune restoration and rehabilitation of altered coast dune system
- fire management including planned burns and wildfire response with QPWS
- contributions to pest management including of foxes, cats and dogs in partnership with other land managers and Biosecurity Queensland
- freshwater fauna surveys in Minjerribah’s wetlands systems
- koala conservation and ReefCheck with partner organisations
- recording, protection and maintenance of cultural sites through clearing debris, fire and flora management
- management of Traditional Owner camping grounds.
