Wetland Spotter Privacy Statement

The Queensland Department of Environment, Science and Innovation collects personal information from you via our Wetland Spotter mobile application (app), which may include your name, email address, uploaded photos, and geographical location (if enabled), for the purpose of our wetland activities. We may also use this information to provide a verified ‘wetland type’ and relevant wetland management information, if you requested a response when uploading your ‘spotter’ information using this app. We will also use anonymised ecological information collected via this mobile app to support the department’s ecosystem mapping activities.

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and will not be used for another purpose or disclosed to any third parties, unless authorised or required by law.  For further information, please refer to the department’s privacy website or contact Queensland.Herbarium@qld.gov.au.

Using the App

Please note that when you use the Wetland Spotter App, you will be prompted to allow camera, photo library and location settings in order to upload the relevant information into the App. You may choose to allow this each time you use the App or allow automatic access every time you open the App. These permissions are disabled when the App is closed.
