Banyahrmabah

The Tugun Satellite Health Centre has been co-named Banyahrmabah, following consultation with local Aboriginal peoples.

Banyahrmabah means ‘place to be made healthy’ in Yugambeh language.

The Queensland Government recognises the special relationship that Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with the land and natural resources. As part of the Satellite Hospital Program, Queensland Health committed to working with Traditional Owner groups to facilitate the implementation of the Queensland Government’s Strategy for Naming and Co-naming of public buildings and facilities.
