Apply to become a JP or Cdec
You can use this form to apply to become a JP or Cdec if you have successfully completed the course in Community Justice Services (Commissioner for Declarations) (Justice of the Peace [Qualified]).
To complete this form you need:
- your statement of attainment from the JP or Cdec course
- written character references from 2 suitable referees
- proof of Australian citizenship (if you were born overseas)
- the application fee of $149.80.
If you are applying for a fee waiver, you will also need to attach the completed application for a fee waiver and required supporting documents with this application.
If you have a disqualifying conviction, you must attach your completed application for exemption from a disqualifying conviction with this application.
Your state member of parliament (MP) will get a copy of this application so they can nominate you for appointment. Your MP may contact you to arrange an interview beforehand.
