Apply for Jack Cranstoun Scholarship

Thank you for your interest in the Jack Cranstoun scholarship 2025.

This year, the scholarship will be awarded to 4 people under the following categories:

  • First Nations peoples
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Regional Queensland
  • General (open category)

Before you apply

You will need to prepare the following items before you apply:

  • a written statement (maximum 2 pages) or video statement (maximum 2 minutes, 5MB) addressing the selection criteria
  • your resume (maximum 1 page).

You will also need to ask 2 people to be your referees. They will need to prove your experience and character.

Selection criteria

You must be able to demonstrate your:

  1. interest or experience in dispute resolution, conflict management, peace keeping or social justice
  2. experience volunteering with a community service or charity
  3. good character, supported by 2 referees (whom we will contact).

      In your video you can address the eligibility criteria by outlining your experience volunteering with a community service or charity and your interest or experience in dispute resolution, conflict management, peace keeping or social justice.

      The video should be no more than 2 minutes long and can be filmed on a smartphone.

      There is a 5MB limit on video submissions.

      Accepted file types are: MP4, MOV, WMV or AVI. Depending on the file type chosen, you may have to compress your video to meet the file size limit. There are free file compression apps for both Android and Apple.

      When your video is ready upload it to Dropbox and share the link to the file with us (please make sure you give us permissions to view it).

    The Dispute Resolution Branch, Department of Justice (DoJ) is collecting your personal information to assess your eligibility for the Jack Cranstoun scholarship and to assess your application if you are eligible. DoJ will only use your personal information for these purposes. It will otherwise not be used or disclosed unless authorised or required by law. Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009.

    Declaration and consent

    I declare that I am 18 years or older and the information I have provided in this form is true and correct. I understand that if I receive a scholarship, the Department of Justice (DoJ) will publish my name to the internet, including on the Jack Cranstoun scholarship page, on DoJ social media accounts and in media statement(s). I also understand that if I receive a scholarship, I will be asked to sign a photo consent form to use my image in DoJ’s publications. I understand that if I sign this form, I will have the opportunity to withdraw my consent at any time before the publication of my photograph.
