Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre
Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre (LVCC) is Queensland’s newest prison, opening in September 2025.
Located at Spring Creek, just outside Gatton, it accommodates male mainstream prisoners.
LVCC is a modern, fit-for-purpose facility with an operating model that enhances community safety through prisoner reform. This is achieved by the delivery of intervention, education, vocational training and prisoner re-entry programs to reduce reoffending and promote safer communities resulting in fewer victims of crime.
LVCC is the first facility in Queensland to integrate case management, specialist services and improved dynamic security to support best practice in corrections and offender rehabilitation, with the aim of reducing the rate of return.
Many services and programs are delivered on site, including mental health, primary health, intervention programs, and opportunities to develop skills through vocational education and training.
LVCC is staffed by a variety of professionals including custodial corrections officers, psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers, as well as education and administration officers, trade instructors and cultural liaison officers.
LVCC has also introduced the Incentive and Earned Progression model, which promotes and acknowledges a person’s effort to change. Prisoners have an opportunity to progress through a pathway at LVCC that provides employment opportunities, accommodation progression and access to visits, phone calls, activities, and purchasing of goods commensurate with the community values they demonstrate.

Body scanners are safe and are used in many prisons and airports around the world.
To read more about body scanning at LVCC, see Body scanning visitors
