The Adventurous Journey Supervisor (AJS) Currency Register
Outdoor Adventurous Journey Supervisors are required be registered on the AJS Currency Register in the outdoor medium/s they will be supervising.
The AJS Currency Register is a 3 year recognition of currency of Outdoor Leadership qualifications. Outdoor Adventurous Journey Supervisors need to reapply every 3 years to renew their AJS Currency Registration.
The Queensland Award Operating Authority currently covers the cost of AJS Currency Registration for Duke of Ed volunteers.
Registration instructions
There are two registration steps:
Step 1—Check you have the required evidence
To meet the requirements of the AJS Currency Register, applicants must provide evidence of the following:
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates or current Provide First Aid in Remote Situations (PFAIRS) certificate and current CPR certificate (certified copies)
- Statement of Attainment (certified copies)*:
- minimum skills equivalent to guide level for the outdoor activity/s you will be supervising, or
- minimum Certificate III level nationally recognised units of competency showing the activity/ies for the relevant outdoor medium/s you are supervising
- Verifiable Logbook** (must show 27 hours of leading the activity, 9 hours in the most recent 12 months; different locations and different groups, one of which must be a dependent client group; rescue skills [in house acceptable])
* Your qualification/s can be from education and training institutions such as:
- Universities
- Vocational Education and Training organisations
- Peak Bodies (e.g. Auscycling / Australian Sailing / Mountain Bike Australia / Paddle Australia)

Step 2—Contact the Queensland Award Operating Authority
Email the Queensland Award Operating Authority to advise of your intention to apply to the AJS Currency Register and provide your preferred email address for further contact.
Registration renewal
Outdoor Adventurous Journey Supervisors need to reapply every 3 years to renew their AJS Currency Registration. They will be sent a reminder email when their AJS Currency Registration is due for renewal and they must ensure they have completed the renewal process before their registration expires.
