How to nominate a Queensland Great
Nominating a Queensland Great is easy. All you need to prepare is details about your nominee’s contributions to Queensland, supporting evidence and a letter of reference.

Award categories
Nominations are open across three categories:
For companies or organisations operating in Queensland, public or private, regardless of size or industry, that have contributed significantly to the development of Queensland. This includes multi-national subsidiaries, partnerships, franchises, non-government associations, community organisations and registered charities.
For honouring deceased individuals who have made a significant contribution to, or whose achievements have impacted, the development of Queensland and who were exemplary role models on account of their achievements.
Tips for successful nominations
A successful nomination will include:
Online nomination (required)
- The nomination must be completed online.
Written response (required)
- Address the questions relevant to your individual, institution or posthumous nomination.
Consent (recommended)
- Nominators are encouraged to contact the nominee prior to submitting the nomination to seek their consent and feedback prior to submitting the nomination.
References (required)
- Contact details for two referees must be provided. Additionally, one of the referees must provide a signed letter of reference to be uploaded with the nomination. However a letter of reference from both referees may be provided if desired. Letters of reference must be written in reference to the nomination, signed and include the referees contact details.
As a guide, letters should include the following information:- referee’s relationship to the nominee
- referee’s interpretation of how the nominee has contributed to the development of Queensland, including their exemplary and inspirational qualities
- if possible, provide qualitative and/or quantitative results on the nominee.
Supporting documentation (optional)
- You may submit up to five relevant supporting materials with your nomination, such as portfolios, newspaper articles and additional references.
