Breakthrough for Families
As part of our Action on Ice Strategy, the program Breakthrough for Families has been implemented.
Breakthrough for Families helps families and significant others of individuals affected by ice and other drugs–in particular families with children–to obtain information, develop support strategies and connect to treatment and other services.
The program provides families and the broader community affected by ice and other drugs access to free, accessible information, and tailored strategies to help themselves and others.
Families can receive brief individual support over several private sessions tailored to their individual needs and circumstances.
Families are also able to access community forums and workshops to gain information and learn solutions and next steps.
The voluntary program is delivered in community settings and has a strong focus on helping people who may not have easy access to support.
Queensland Health (Insight Training) is supporting Breakthrough for Families service providers with state-wide program resources, training and support for workers.
