Housing assistance for Queensland veterans
Queensland veterans can access housing and homelessness support through Housing Service Centres and the Salvation Army.
Veterans and their families can get practical assistance including outreach services, brokerage for immediate emergency accommodation and referrals to mental health, drug and alcohol support, and financial counselling.
Veterans will be supported to find and keep a home and to sustain their tenancy through:
- one-on-one support throughout the housing application processes, including collating all relevant documentation, attending offer interviews, providing support during relocation and providing support post housing
- practical assistance to help people physically move, set up their new home and link them to local services, close to their new home
- brokerage to assist clients to get ‘on their feet’ in their new home, financial planning and assistance, and other practical financial assistance to purchase furniture and whitegoods, and/or assistance to manage outstanding debts
- information and help to access and assistance about relevant community services, income support, health care and social support linkages.
