Through programs that connect with ex-Defence force personnel and a unique mentoring for women program, Patrick Terminals is addressing workforce shortages and gaining new perspectives.

Cotton Australia - Workforce strategy

In this case study, we meet Paul Sloman - Policy Officer - Cotton Australia and learn how a new program is connecting ex-Australian Defence Force personnel to opportunities in the cotton industry.

A record cotton crop has created a shortage of skilled workforce. A new program co-ordinated by Cotton Australia, with funding by the Queensland Government’s Department of Agriculture and Fisheries aims to alleviate pressure on the sector and provide skilled talent.

Taking inspiration from another similar program, Operation Grain Harvest (2022), Cotton Australia is connecting highly-skilled ex-ADF personnel to jobs in the agricultural industry.

This story is powered by the Good people. Good jobs: Queensland Workforce Strategy 2022-2032. Special thanks to Cotton Australia – especially Paul – for sharing the story.
