Nurses Memorial Candlelight Vigil
Wednesday 24 April 2024 - 5.30pm for 6.00pm, Nurses’ Memorial, Anzac Square, Adelaide Street, Brisbane.
The Nurses Memorial Candlelight Vigil, held on the eve of Anzac Day, commemorates the service of nursing over more than the 100 years in which Australia has been involved in conflicts. The Vigil also commemorates nursing more widely.
The Centaur Memorial Fund for Nurses and Defence Service Nurses RSL Sub Branch Queensland combine to deliver the Nurses Vigil. The Vigil ensures their sacrifices, and those of all nurses in wars, conflicts and peace keeping operations are remembered. This event is proudly supported by the Queensland Government.
Everyone is welcome to attend this event, for more information visit www.centaurnursesfund.org.au
Prior to the event, the Anzac Square Memorial & Galleries, beneath the Shrine of Remembrance, will be offering a free 30-minute talk from 5.00pm to 5.30pm commemorating the ordeal of the Australian nurses on the evacuation ship SS Vyner Brooke – for bookings visit https://www.anzacsquare.qld.gov.au/whats-on/sinking-vyner-brooke.
