Change your training contract
There are many reasons for amending your training contract, such as
- updating personal details or correcting mistakes
- extending the completion date
- converting your working hours from part-time to full-time, or vice versa
- changing your qualification
- changing your training organisation.
Some changes are considered minor, while some are major. They are treated differently and use different processes and forms.
Change name or address
You can make minor changes to the training contract, including correcting typing mistakes or updating your name or address.
Notify your Apprentice Connect Australia Provider (Provider) either verbally, or in writing, using Form ATF-017.
Change dates or date of birth
Changing the training contract start date or correcting a mistake in your date of birth, when it affects legal age limits of the apprenticeship or traineeship, are considered major changes.
Follow these steps:
- Notify your Provider, using Form ATF-035.
- If this change affects the training plan, you'll need to advise your training organisation as well.
Change the end date
To change the end date of the training contract if you need more time to complete your training, you'll need to apply to extend the training contract.
Change work hours (part-time to full-time, or vice versa)
A change in 'contract mode' applies when you want to change your working hours (e.g. increase hours from part-time to full-time).
Follow these steps:
- This change will affect the training plan, so you'll need support from your training organisation.
- Notify your Provider, using Form ATF-035.
Change qualification type, level or name
Different qualification
A change to a different qualification, in a different industry or training package, may affect funding support, length of contract and pay rate, so speak to your Provider first.
Follow these steps:
- This change will affect the training plan, so you'll need support from your training organisation.
- Fill out Form ATF-035.
Level of qualification
Follow these steps:
- If you want to change your qualification (e.g. from certificate II level to certificate III level), you'll need support from your training organisation, as this change will affect the training plan.
- Notify your Provider, using Form ATF-035.
Change your training organisation
You and your employer can agree to change your training organisation because:
- the current training organisation doesn't offer suitable delivery options (e.g. online or face-to-face learning)
- you, your workplace, or your training organisation has moved
- you have unresolved problems with your training organisation
- you transferred employers and your new employer prefers another training organisation.
Follow these steps:
- Agree with your employer on a new training organisation and make sure the new training organisation agrees to take you on. They should advise you if this change will affect your funding support.
- You and your employer must contact your original training organisation to:
- give them 14 days written notice that you are changing
- request a 'statement of attainment', which lists all your completed competencies.
- Notify your Provider, using Form ATF-010. This must be done at least 14 days before the replacement date.
- Sign a new training plan developed with your new training organisation. This should be done within 28 days of the changeover.
