Recognition of Rural and Remote Service (RoRRS) Scheme

Over half of Queensland’s state schools are in rural and remote areas and there are a lot of great reasons to teach in these communities. The work itself can be life changing and there are also generous financial benefits, assistance to move and career progression opportunities.

Recognition of Rural and Remote Service (RoRRS) scheme offers financial benefits, career opportunities and other incentives for state school teachers who live and teach in a rural or remote Queensland community.

Benefits and allowances

Depending on location, you may be able to access benefits and allowances, including:

  • permanency
  • financial allowances
  • extended and additional leave entitlements
  • specialised induction programs
  • subsidised housing
  • flight allowances
  • generous transfer and relocation expense assistance.

In addition to your salary, you may also be entitled to:

  • compensation benefit for you and your dependants to compensate you for the cost of travelling in and out of your community
  • recognition of service payments that acknowledge your decision to to extend your stay in your chosen community
  • locality allowance, which is a specific allocation of funds for your particular location.
