Distance education
You can enrol your child in a school of distance education. There are eligibility criteria and fees may be charged for this service.
With distance education:
- school curriculum programs are provided for students
- teachers help monitor the child's learning and report on progress (as in state schools)
- the parent is the home tutor.

Home education
If you register your child for home education you are required to:
- accept legal responsibility for your child's education
- provide a high-quality education for your child
- provide a suitable learning environment in the home.
You can choose to educate your child yourself or enlist a registered teacher.

Before and after school care
Outside school hours care (OSHC) and school holiday programs are often run at schools.
