Queensland Waste and Resource Recovery Infrastructure Report
Queensland’s waste and resource recovery industry is in the early stages of a once-in-a-generation transformation. This transformation is being driven by the Queensland Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy (Strategy) and key policy and regulatory reforms including the Queensland waste levy.
The Queensland Waste and Resource Recovery Infrastructure Report (the Report) has been prepared to provide a baseline understanding of existing infrastructure and future needs to support this transformation. It contains valuable information that will support in the planning and development of infrastructure to achieve the Strategy objectives and to help Queensland transition to a circular economy.
The Report also addresses a range of other planning and economic elements relating to Queensland’s waste and resource recovery industry.
As well as providing a framework to assist industry identify where and which types of infrastructure are needed across Queensland, the Report identifies opportunities in regional areas based on an analysis of the underlying data and an assessment of industry trends and consultation feedback.
