Report an abandoned mine site
Abandoned mines can pose risks to humans, animal life and to the surrounding environment. Detection of hazardous locations across Queensland is important for the effective management of abandoned mine sites. The community can assist by reporting any known hazardous sites in their areas.
If you know of an abandoned mine site, report its location and whether you think it might be a hazard. Please provide as much detail as possible about the site (e.g. location, access, and size). You can include photographs but only take pictures from a safe distance.
Or you can:
- email abandonedmines@resources.qld.gov.au
- phone 13 QGOV (13 74 68)
- phone 000 for emergencies.
Abandoned mines are dangerous places and safety precautions should be observed at all times.
Do not enter an abandoned mine site.
Landholders retain responsibility for minimising any risk of harm to people entering their land.
We collect, record and monitor information about abandoned mines to identify and prioritise the risk of abandoned mines in Queensland.
