Get free RATs (Rapid Antigen Tests)

You can get free Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) at Queensland Health RAT distribution points if you:

  • hold an eligible Commonwealth Concession card
  • are at risk of or experiencing homelessness, including people escaping domestic and family violence
  • are seeking asylum in Queensland
  • recently arrived from Ukraine
  • working in Queensland as part of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme.

Eligibility for free Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs)

To get free RATs as a concession card holder, you must hold one of these cards:

  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
  • Health Care Card
  • Low Income Health Care Card
  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold, White or Orange card.

People at risk of or experiencing homelessness and people escaping domestic and family violence (DFV) can access RATs for free. If you have an Australian Government concession card (e.g. health care card or pension card), you can provide this. If you do not have an Australian Government concession card, tell staff you are at risk of or experiencing homelessness or escaping domestic and family violence.

Organisations providing support

If you are a member of an organisation providing support for people experiencing homelessness or domestic and family violence, you can access free RATs to distribute to people or clients you consider eligible. You can access free RATs for these people by doing the following:

  • tell staff you are a member of your organisation collecting RATs for distribution
  • show some form of identification for yourself and the organisation you work for
  • show this web page to staff if they are unaware of your eligibility.

If you have arrived in Australia from the Ukraine from 1 December 2021, you can now access RATs for free. Where and how to get free RAT tests for eligible people

To protect others from COVID-19, when you visit a Queensland Health RAT distribution point:

  • wear a face mask if you have any COVID-19 symptoms
  • stay 1.5m away from others
  • wash your hands or use hand sanitiser.

You need to show the correct information for your eligibility group at a Queensland Health RAT distribution point.

You can get a carer or guardian to pick up your RATs if you’re eligible but can’t get them yourself. They will need to show your proof of eligibility when they go to the Queensland Health facility.

You can get up to 5 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) per month and can collect up to 3 months' supply during a single visit if you are meet the eligibility outlined on this page.
