Bulk-billing services

Bulk-billing is a service that health professionals such as doctors, specialists, optometrists, dentists and other allied health practitioners can choose to offer.

If your health professional chooses to bulk bill, the full cost of your appointment is covered by Medicare. However, if you receive more than one service in a visit, you may not be bulk billed for everything.

Not all health professionals bulk-bill, and some only bulk-bill certain patients, such as those with a concession or health care card.  You can find health professionals who bulk bill on the healthdirect website.

If your health professional doesn't bulk-bill you will need to pay for your appointment.  However, you may be able to claim some of the cost back from Medicare.
