Applying for funding

Once you’ve read the information about the program and checked your eligibility, you can apply for funding.

The application process has 2 stages:

  1. Confirmation of eligibility
  2. Quote review and approval of funding

Stage 1: Confirming your eligibility

For the first stage, you will start your application and confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria and income requirements.

The program team will assess your application and let you know if you’re eligible to move to the next stage.

This could take up to 1 month.

Stage 2: Providing quote for improvements

After we confirm your eligibility, you will be invited to start stage 2 – providing an itemised and quantified quote for eligible resilience improvements to be performed on your home.

We encourage you to get multiple quotes to help you make a final decision. However, you may upload only 1 quote from your preferred contractor for assessment.

Find a local QBCC-licensed contractor.

If you have previously contracted a tradesperson and/or got a quote for this type of work, you may still be eligible to apply if the works haven’t started.

You can upload this via the portal on the website. Your application approval email will have instructions on how to do this.

After you submit your quote, our assessors will:

  • review the costs for the proposed works to confirm the improvements are reasonable
  • visit your home to complete an on-site pre-approval inspection
  • advise you of the outcome.

This may take up to 1 month.

Apply for funding

We encourage homeowners to apply online where possible.

Go to the application

If you can’t access a computer or the internet, call the program team on (07) 3007 4485 (option 1) to request assistance.

You can nominate a third party within the application process if you need help with your application.

After your application is approved

If we approve your application for funding, we will notify you by email.

You will then need to sign a QBCC-approved building contract with your chosen, licensed contractor for the quoted works. Read more about QBCC contracts.

Do not start any works to improve your home until you receive approval for Household Resilience Program funding in writing from the Department of Housing and Public Works.
