Applying for funding
Once you’ve read the information about the program and checked your eligibility, you can follow the next steps to apply for funding.
The application process involves:
- confirmation of eligibility of the body corporate and property
- quote and selected improvement works.
Confirming your eligibility
Before you start the application, the property must have both:
- participated in the North Queensland Strata Title Inspection Program
- received the inspection report from the James Cook University Cyclone Testing Station.
We will review the report against the work you are requesting to complete through grant funding to determine eligibility.
If you have not participated in the inspection program, you need to register by contacting the Cyclone Testing Station.
Providing a quote for improvements
Once you have reviewed your inspection program report and nominated the eligible resilience strategies to be completed on the property, you must obtain an itemised and quantified quote for the works to be performed.
We encourage you to get multiple quotes to help you make a final decision. However, you may upload only 1 quote from your preferred contractor covering all works you’re applying for (including any design or planning cost) for assessment.
Find a local QBCC-licensed contractor.
If you have previously contracted a tradesperson and/or got a quote for this type of work, you may still be eligible to apply if the works haven’t started.
You can upload the quote via the portal on the website during the application process.
Apply for funding
We encourage bodies corporate to apply online where possible.
If the nominated person can’t access a computer or the internet, they should call the program team on (07) 3007 4485 (option 3) to request assistance.
Funding is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Assessment of application
After you submit your application, our assessors will:
- review the resilience strategies in the quote against the Inspection Program Report for eligibility
- review the costs for the proposed works to confirm the improvements are reasonable
- visit the property to complete an on-site pre-approval inspection
- advise the nominated person of the outcome.
This may take up to 1 month.
After your application is approved
If we approve the application for funding, we will notify the nominated person by email.
The body corporate will then need to sign a QBCC-approved building contract with their chosen, licensed contractor for the quoted works. Read more about QBCC contracts.
Do not start any works to improve your property until you receive approval for Strata Resilience Program funding in writing from the Department of Housing and Public Works.
