Visiting a Housing Service Centre
Our Housing Service Centres are safe and welcoming spaces for all Queenslanders who need housing and renting help.
What we do
Our friendly staff will talk to you about finding housing and renting help.
We will talk to you about your circumstances, needs and goals and help you to find the right products, services or housing options for you.
This could include:
- Help to find, get and keep a rental property
- Emergency housing
- Aged care housing
- Public or community housing.
Housing officers in our Housing Service Centres can also connect you to other outreach services like domestic violence support, financial help, or health-related services.
What to expect during your visit
When you arrive at a Housing Service Centre, you’ll be greeted by a housing officer, who may ask you for some basic information to help us understand your situation better and direct you to the services that meet your needs. Your first visit may take some time so please be patient while we help you find a suitable housing outcome.
Our staff are trained to listen and respond to your individual circumstances and offer tailored advice and support. Whether you need renting help, are seeking emergency housing, or need social housing, we’ll work closely with you to explore housing options that meet your needs.
You can help us help you by:
- providing complete, accurate and timely information about yourself and your housing circumstances
- bringing your ID and Centrelink documentation if available. If these aren’t available, we can still help you
- being respectful and courteous to staff and other Housing Service Centre visitors
- telling us if you need help to use our products and services
- talking to our staff if you are not happy with the outcome or visit our website to provide feedback.
Safe and welcoming spaces
At a Housing Service Centre, our goal is to ensure everyone feels safe, supported and welcome. We know that looking for housing help can be a stressful experience, so we aim to create a calm and respectful environment where you can feel at ease.
Our staff are expected to be polite and respectful with people visiting our Housing Service Centres and we expect our staff to be treated the same in return. We do not tolerate behaviour that is abusive, threatening or unreasonable.
Accessibility and inclusivity
We are committed to making our products and services and our Housing Service Centres accessible to everyone.
Staff at our Housing Service Centres also help people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and offer products and services to support people from all cultures. If you speak a language other than English, our staff can organise an interpreter and translator services.
