Get an introduction agent licence
An introduction agent introduces people interested in having personal relationships or attending social gatherings.
You must be licensed if you offer these services to clients in Queensland. You must still be licensed if you are based interstate, overseas or online.
You don't need a licence if:
- you're a community or non-profit organisation
- you only organise public events, such as dances
- you publish a list of people looking for a relationship and
- you charge less than $100
- your clients don't contact you directly to access the list
- you don't require your clients to use your service again
- you're a prostitution provider.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a licence, you must
- be 18 or older
- not be insolvent or under administration.
You can't get a licence if you:
- were convicted of a disqualifying offence in the past 5 years
- held a brothel licence or approved manager certificate in the past 5 years.
A corporation isn't eligible for a licence if:
- it's under external administration
- it was convicted of a disqualifying offence in the past 5 years
- any associated person of the corporation isn't eligible.
How to apply
Complete an application for an introduction agent licence and submit it to the Office of Fair trading:

Attachments
You'll need to attach an original or certified copy of your identification (ID) to the form. It can be 1 of the following forms of ID:
- birth certificate or extract
- driver licence
- passport
- citizenship certificate.
Criminal history check
To confirm your suitability, we'll submit your application to the Queensland Police Service for a criminal history check. This will be thorough and can be time consuming.
Processing time
The processing time is 4 to 6 weeks. This can take longer if you haven't supplied all the information we need or you haven't paid the correct fees.
Refunds
Depending on your circumstances, you may be entitled to a partial refund if:
- you withdraw your application
- we refuse your application.
You may also get a refund on the fee for your criminal history check if it hasn't started yet.
Training
There are no training requirements for this licence.
