Check a tattoo licence
Public register
We keep a public register of all licensed tattoo operators and tattooists. You can search this register online for free.
The free online register is for your information only. You cannot use it as evidence in legal proceedings.
Official extract
If you need a record of your search, you will need to contact us for an official extract. You will need to pay a fee.
The record will show:
- the name of each person who holds the licence
- their registered business name (if any) and place of business
- the status of the licence—current, expired, refused, cancelled or suspended
- their licence number and class.
We can send an extract to you within 10 working days.
