Finding a prisoner
You can phone or email us to find out the location of someone in a watch house or a prison in Queensland. There is also an online map displaying the location and details of all prisons across the state.
After arrest
When the police arrest and charge someone with a criminal offence they may be held in the local watch house before appearing in court.
People sentenced to a term of imprisonment by the court may also be held in a police watch house for several days before being transferred to a prison.
You can phone your local police station or a 24-hour police station to enquire where someone who has been charged is being held. Use the police station locator to find a police station and its opening hours.
After being moved to prison
Once the person has been moved to prison, you can find out where they have been sent by:
- using the search for prisoners form
- emailing prisonerlocations@corrections.qld.gov.au.
