Play On! Sports Vouchers frequently asked questions

|

Play On! Sports Vouchers is a Queensland Government program that helps kids get active. Each voucher is worth up to $200 and can be used to help cover the cost of joining a sport or active recreation activity. The program is for children aged 5 to 17 and aims to make organised activities more affordable for families.

Each voucher is worth up to $200. It can be used for registration, membership or participation fees with a registered Play On! Sports Vouchers activity provider.

Children must:

  • be aged 5 to 17 years
  • live in Queensland
  • be listed on a valid Medicare card.

You may also apply with a Health Care Card (HCC), or Pensioner Concession Card (PCC).

Families who don’t meet these criteria but are experiencing genuine financial hardship may still be able to access a voucher through a registered referral agent. Find out more.

Referral agents help families who don’t meet the standard eligibility criteria — such as having a valid Medicare card, Health Care Card (HCC) or Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) — but are experiencing genuine financial hardship to apply for a voucher.

Referral agents can assess a family’s situation and, if appropriate, approve a voucher on their behalf. Find out how you can register as a Play On! Sports Vouchers referral agent.

To be eligible:

  • incorporated organisations delivering eligible activities do not need to be affiliated with a governing body but must provide assurance they meet requirements for insurance, blue cards, qualified coaches or leaders, and the National Integrity Framework (or similar)
  • non-incorporated organisations must be affiliated with the recognised State or National organisation for their activity. This ensures they meet safety and quality standards
  • in some cases (such as remote locations) exemptions may apply.

Note: For activities without a recognised State or National body — for example, cheerleading—only incorporated not-for-profit providers are eligible.
