Youth Week grants

As part of Queensland Youth Week 2025, grants of up to $5,000 (inclusive of GST) were offered to young people aged 12–25 to host their own exciting and impactful events between 6 and 12 April 2025.

The Community Event grants closed on 23 February 2025.

They were hotly contested, with many fantastic applications from young people across the state.

Congratulations to all successful recipients, and a huge thank you to everyone who applied and expressed interest in making Queensland Youth Week 2025 our best yet!

South Burnett CTC Youth Week FestivalThe South Burnett CTC Youth Week Festival was a large-scale, inclusive event that brought together young people from across the South Burnett region.

The event featured music, foam machines, fireworks, and interactive activities, that provided a fun, safe and engaging space for socially isolated young people.

A key focus of the event was reducing barriers to participation. Transport was provided for young people in smaller, more remote towns, and food was covered to ensure accessibility for all attendees.

The event was backed by community organisations, sporting clubs and local businesses, reinforcing strong community ties and sustainability.

Beach BeatsThis was a youth-led community festival in Yeppoon, featuring music, arts, markets, and community service engagement.

The event empowered young people by showcasing their talents and improving access to youth support services.

Kalwun Youth Week 2025The Youth Week Celebration hosted by Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council (NPARC) was a multi-community event that engaged, empowered and celebrated young people in one of Queensland’s most remote regions.

The event featured cultural performances, sports tournaments, leadership talks, music showcases and interactive workshops.

Passion Pathways to Authentic LeadershipPassion Pathways to Authentic Leadership (PPAL) was a 1-day leadership and personal development workshop designed that helped young people embrace their passions, build confidence and develop leadership skills.

The event featured self-reflection exercises, networking opportunities, guest speakers and a public speaking component that equipped attendees with practical tools for personal and career growth.

Cultural Connections: A Celebration of Youth Heritage and IdentityThis application was a culturally-focused youth event for newly-arrived migrants, refugees, and culturally-diverse youth in Logan.

It aimed to celebrate cultural heritage, foster community connections and empower young people through performances, storytelling, and interactive activities.

headspace Youth Pool PartyThe headspace Youth Pool Party was a youth-led, community-focused event that provided a fun, inclusive space for young people while promoting mental health awareness and social connection.Mackay
Youth Week Across the Maranoa 2025

The Youth Week Across the Maranoa 2025 was a multi-event, regionally-dispersed program that engaged, empowered and celebrated young people across the Maranoa region.

The event consisted of:

  • Mitchell TRYathlon: a sporting competition fostering resilience, teamwork and physical wellbeing for over 200 participants
  • Roma BMX Workshop & Performance: A BMX skills development session, supported by PCYC coaches, that provided hands-on learning in sports and personal growth
  • guest speaker sessions in schools that discussed online safety and digital responsibility, with Young Achiever Award winners sharing their experiences.

Innovation & Wellbeing Youth DayThe Innovation & Wellbeing Youth Day was a culturally-safe, youth-focused event that empowered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people through a mix of leadership, cultural, mental health, and career development activities.

The event featured cultural performances, yarning circles, guest speakers, health and wellbeing workshops and employment pathway support that ensured young people left with tangible knowledge, skills and connections.

The event was structured to address barriers to participation that ensured accessibility for young people from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing socio-economic disadvantage.

Bundy Beats & Streets TourBundy Beats & Streets Tour was a guided walking tour that featured silent disco technology, youth storytelling, live performances and an interactive VR experience that explored Bundaberg’s arts, culture and heritage.

Participants engaged in cultural storytelling, interactive games, and a music-infused walking experience that fostered community pride and connection.

The event was supported by Bundaberg Regional Council and local youth performers.

Y2K Rewind PartyThe Y2K Rewind Party was a youth-led, regionally-focused event that aligned strongly with Queensland Youth Week (QYW) priorities.

Designed to reduce social isolation and increase youth engagement, the event provided a safe, inclusive space for young people in Highfields and Pittsworth through music, social activities and facilitated discussions on youth issues.

Cooking up a great resume

The Cooking Up a Great Resume event was a youth-led initiative designed to teach young people (aged 16-25) essential job skills, financial literacy, and healthy eating habits.

The event included:

  • cooking demonstrations where participants learned to prepare 2 affordable and nutritious work lunches
  • workshops on resume building, job readiness, and financial management, led by headspace’s Work & Study team
  • free lunch storage containers and insulated lunch packs for participants that encouraged ongoing healthy habits
  • facilitation by Youth Reference Group members that provided peer-led mentorship
  • opportunities for young people to access employment services, mental health support and additional youth resources.
Ipswich
Youth Week at Northey StreetThe event aimed to engage young people in sustainability, community and creative expression through activities at Northey Street City Farm.

The event included an open mic session, live performances, a farm tour, communal art projects and educational workshops.

It sought to attract young volunteers to the farm and foster a stronger sense of community and environmental stewardship.

Youth Week @ OuterSpaceThis was a large-scale, youth-focused event in Rockhampton, combining Queensland Youth Week celebrations with OurSpace’s regular youth engagement activities.

The event included sports, arts, music and service provider engagement and provided a safe, accessible and engaging space for young people in the region.

Youth Week Pool Party/DiscoThe Youth Week Pool Party/Disco was a free event at the newly-refurbished Burdekin Aquatic Centre.

The event targeted young people aged 12–18 and featured access to the Ayr Pool and Water Park, a local DJ providing entertainment and a free sausage sizzle.

The Burdekin Shire Youth Council was actively involved in running games with prizes and giveaways.

The event also served as a consultation opportunity, engaging young people in discussions about community needs.

Yarry Youth Touch TournamentThe Yarri Youth Touch Tournament was a youth-led sports competition that engaged local young people aged 12–17 in an inclusive and structured community event.

It also promoted physical activity, community pride and leadership, while also integrating a colour run and a fully-catered lunch.

It included partnerships with PCYC Yarrabah, Harbrow Mentoring, Aspire Community and Our Future Mentors.

The tournament focused on youth empowerment, leadership, community connection and celebrating achievements by fostering team participation and promoting healthy lifestyles.
