Youth Week grants
As part of Queensland Youth Week 2025, grants of up to $5,000 (inclusive of GST) were offered to young people aged 12–25 to host their own exciting and impactful events between 6 and 12 April 2025.
The Community Event grants closed on 23 February 2025.
They were hotly contested, with many fantastic applications from young people across the state.

A key focus of the event is reducing barriers to participation. Transport is provided for young people in smaller, more remote towns, and food is covered to ensure accessibility for all attendees. Kalwun Youth Week 2025 | The Youth Week Celebration hosted by Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council (NPARC) is a multi-community event designed to engage, empower and celebrate young people in one of Queensland’s most remote regions. Passion Pathways to Authentic Leadership | Passion Pathways to Authentic Leadership (PPAL) is a 1-day leadership and personal development workshop designed to help young people embrace their passions, build confidence and develop leadership skills. Cultural Connections: A Celebration of Youth Heritage and Identity | This application proposes a culturally focused youth event for newly arrived migrants, refugees, and culturally diverse youth in Logan. Youth Week Across the Maranoa 2025 | The Youth Week Across the Maranoa 2025 is a multi-event, regionally dispersed program designed to engage, empower and celebrate young people across the Maranoa region. The event consists of Mitchell TRYathlon: a sporting competition fostering resilience, teamwork and physical wellbeing for over 200 participants. Roma BMX Workshop & Performance: A BMX skills development session, supported by PCYC coaches, providing hands-on learning in sports and personal growth. Innovation & Wellbeing Youth Day | The Innovation & Wellbeing Youth Day is a culturally safe, youth-focused event designed to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people through a mix of leadership, cultural, mental health, and career development activities. The event will feature cultural performances, yarning circles, guest speakers, health and wellbeing workshops, and employment pathway support, ensuring young people leave with tangible knowledge, skills and connections. Bundy Beats & Streets Tour | Bundy Beats & Streets Tour is a guided walking tour featuring silent disco technology, youth storytelling, live performances, and an interactive VR experience exploring Bundaberg’s arts, culture and heritage. Participants will engage in cultural storytelling, interactive games, and a music-infused walking experience that fosters community pride and connection. Y2K Rewind Party | The Y2K Rewind Party is a youth-led, regionally focused event that aligns strongly with Queensland Youth Week (QYW) priorities. Designed to reduce social isolation and increase youth engagement, the event will provide a safe, inclusive space for young people in Highfields and Pittsworth through music, social activities and facilitated discussions on youth issues. | Toowoomba & Pittsworth |
Cooking up a great resume | The Cooking Up a Great Resume event is a youth-led initiative designed to teach young people (aged 16-25) essential job skills, financial literacy, and healthy eating habits. The event includes cooking demonstrations where participants will learn to prepare two affordable and nutritious work lunches. Workshops on resume building, job readiness, and financial management, led by headspace’s Work & Study team. Free lunch storage containers and insulated lunch packs for participants to encourage ongoing healthy habits. Facilitation by Youth Reference Group members, providing peer-led mentorship. Riverside Christian College Community Day | This event involves a community-led mural painting project on the toilet blocks of Andrew Petrie Park, incorporating Aboriginal Butchulla designs in collaboration with local artists. The event also includes a community cleanup, minor park restorations (handrails, basketball court) and a community sausage sizzle. The initiative aims to promote youth leadership, cultural appreciation and environmental stewardship. | Maryborough |
Youth Week at Northey Street | The event aims to engage young people in sustainability, community, and creative expression through activities at Northey Street City Farm. The event includes an open mic session, live performances, a farm tour, communal art projects and educational workshops. Youth Week @ OuterSpace | This application proposes a large-scale, youth-focused event in Rockhampton, combining Queensland Youth Week celebrations with OurSpace’s regular youth engagement activities. Youth Week Pool Party/Disco | The Youth Week Pool Party/Disco is a free event, at the newly refurbished Burdekin Aquatic Centre. The event is targeted at young people aged 12-18 and will feature access to the Ayr Pool and Water Park, a local DJ providing entertainment and a free sausage sizzle for attendees. The Burdekin Shire Youth Council will be actively involved in running games with prizes and giveaways. Yarry Youth Touch Tournament | The Yarri Youth Touch Tournament is a youth-led sports competition designed to engage local young people aged 12-17 in an inclusive and structured community event. The event aims to promote physical activity, community pride, and leadership, while also integrating a colour run and a fully catered lunch. It includes partnerships with PCYC Yarrabah, Harbrow Mentoring, Aspire Community and Our Future Mentors.
