Schoolies
Completion of Year 12 is traditionally a time of celebration for students across Australia.
Friends typically head off to various 'Schoolies' locations for a well-deserved break to mark a milestone in their lives.
The worldwide impact of the COVID-19 pandemic means that Schoolies will look very different for Year 12 school leavers in 2020.
In late August 2020, the Queensland Premier, along with the Chief Health Officer and Minister for Health, announced that all organised Schoolies events are cancelled this year given mass gatherings of young people over consecutive days is high risk in the context of COVID-19.
School leavers are encouraged to think laterally about their 2020 celebration plans given these new parameters. Consider where you will go, when you will go, who you're going with, and what you will be able to do when you get there.
Celebrations of any sort must be COVID safe. Make sure you are up to date with the latest health advice and current directives for both the state of Queensland and your region.
