Improved services and safety for Cairns waterways

Cairns will be home to Queensland’s first Marine Operations Base with Queensland Water Police, Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association QF9 Cairns, and the soon-to-be-established Marine Rescue Queensland regional operations to be centred alongside Maritime Safety Queensland.
They will be co-sited on the water and in offices as part of the Cairns Marine Operations Base, with the fit-for-purposes facilities enabling streamlined sharing of resources and knowledge and improving coordination between marine rescue services.
A new marine rescue vessel for QF9 Cairns is part of the Queensland Government’s $22.3 million vessel replacement program ensuring modern, safe, and responsive services for the Cairns community.
