Healthy outlook for Redlands residents
The importance of the Queensland Government investment in healthcare closer to home is emphasised by the success of the Redlands Satellite Hospital, which has cared for more than 28,000 bayside locals since opening its doors one year ago.
The service has helped to reduce pressure at the Redlands Hospital emergency department, with the latest quarterly performance data showing a decrease of 16 per cent in non-urgent (category 4 and 5 patients) presentations and a reduction of more than 6 per cent in potentially serious presentations (category 3 patients).
The community will also benefit from the expansion of Redlands Hospital with the $77.9 million Stage 1 project expected to open in mid-2025.
It will deliver 37 additional beds including new intensive care and inpatient units. This follows the completion in October 2023 of the $25 million modular ward that provided an additional 28 beds to the hospital.
