Support for people with vulnerabilities in disasters
Did you know that people experiencing homelessness are more exposed to the risk from disaster events such as floods, cyclones and bushfires or that people with disability are twice as likely to be injured or find themselves socially isolated during natural disasters?
To address these issues, Community Recovery partnered with the University of Sydney, Queenslanders with Disability Network and Community Services Industry Alliance to develop Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) Disability and Homelessness Outreach toolkits and educational resources for the emergency sector and other service providers to assist people with disability or experiencing homelessness.

To help reduce the impact of disasters on people with vulnerabilities or people who may become vulnerable, Community Recovery have also developed People with vulnerabilities in disasters: A framework for an effective local response, and toolkit in collaboration with key partners, to contribute to building resilient communities.
