Concessions

Ex-Australian Defence Force personnel and veterans may be eligible for Queensland Government concessions to help ease cost of living pressures. Eligibility requirements apply (e.g. Department of Veterans’ Affairs issued Pensioner Concession Card (PCC), Gold Card–all conditions or White Card–Specific conditions).

Transport concessions

Public transport concessions

PCC and Queensland Gold Card and White Card holders are entitled to a concession fare for travel on Translink, qconnect and regional ferry services. A concession fare is 50% cheaper than an adult fare.

TPI and EDA Gold Card holders must have a TPI/EDA Veteran Travel Card to receive unlimited free travel on approved Translink, qconnect and regional ferry services.

Queensland Rail Travel

Queensland resident pensioner concession card and DVA Gold Card holders marked War Widow/Widower are eligible for 4-hour Queensland pension rail travel entitlements per calendar year to use on long distance Queensland Rail Travel services.

Queensland resident TPI or EDA Gold Card holders who have a Translink TPI/EDA Veteran Travel Card, are eligible for one free return trip each fortnight on long distance Queensland Rail Travel services.

Motor Vehicle Registration

Queensland PCC holders and Veterans receiving at least 70% disability pension or who have at least 50 impairment points, may be eligible for a discount on the registration fee for one vehicle and one boat.

Energy and property concessions

Electricity and gas rebates

PCC or Gold Card (and receive the War Widow/er Pension or special rate TPI pension) holders may be eligible to receive a rebate on electricity and gas. Eligibility criteria apply.

Rates subsidy

PCC or Gold Card holders may be eligible to receive a subsidy of 20% (up to a maximum amount of $200 each year) of the gross rates and charges levied by your local council.

In addition to the state subsidy, a local council may also offer other remissions on rates and charges.

Water subsidy

PCC or Gold Card holders may be eligible for a subsidy of up to $120 (maximum) each year off the cost of water access and usage charges for properties in the South East Queensland Water Grid.
