Outdoor Directory

Outdoors Queensland lists a range of organisations that run outdoor activities, including climbing and abseiling, aerosports, boating and sailing, canoeing and kayaking, diving, bushwalking, rafting, horse riding and orienteering among others.

You can also use the directory to find information about outdoor recreation facilities, including:

• PGL Kindilan: an education and conference centre owned by Girl Guides Queensland.

Accessible parks and forests in Queensland

From the bush to the beach, Queensland's parks, forests and reserves showcase the state's unique and irreplaceable natural and cultural values. Queensland Parks and Wildlife service is continually working to improve access to parks, forests and reserves for everyone, including visitors with mobility and vision impairment.

The Find a park or forest is an interactive website designed to help you find the most suitable park or forest for your needs.

Recreation programs for people with a disability

• Aquatic Participation Fun Days run by Swimming Queensland give people with a disability the opportunity to enjoy fun, safe water activities. They also provide information sessions for teachers and others who work with student swimmers with disability.
• Police-Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC) encourage participation in sporting, recreation, culture and welfare programs. They have clubs around Queensland that offer affordable activities for all ages.
• Riding for the Disabled (RDA) provides sporting and therapeutic equestrian programs for people with a disability and volunteers in centres across Queensland.
• Girl Guides Queensland welcomes girls of all abilities to participate in its inclusive or disability-specific programs.
• Scouts Queensland encourages the development of all young people.
• Duke of Edinburgh Award and Bridge Award programs promote challenge, adventure and achievement for young people.
• CPL offer a recreation and leisure program at Capalaba in South-East Queensland.
