Choose your training organisation
You'll need to choose a training organisation to work with you and your employer (and school if appropriate) throughout the apprenticeship or traineeship.
Your Apprentice Connect Australia Provider can also help you with this.
Your chosen training organisation will be known as your supervising registered training organisation, or SRTO.
What your training organisation does
Your training organisation will:
- help you and your employer create a training plan which describes what you'll learn, and when and how it will be delivered and assessed
- give you a training record to document your training
- deliver and monitor training
- oversee the training provided by your employer
- assess your achievement of skills
- issue a qualification when you complete your apprenticeship or traineeship.
Choose a training organisation
You and your employer should 'shop around' for a training organisation who meets your needs.
Training organisations may offer different methods of training, such as classroom-based, work-based or flexible learning (e.g. online training).
Checklist of questions
To help you decide, use our checklist of questions:
- How much does my course cost?
- How and when can my training be delivered?
- What delivery methods do you offer?
- Is training done in the workplace, at the training organisation, or a combination?
- Is training offered in days per week or in blocks of weeks at a time?
- Who will assess me, and when will assessments take place?
- Can I get help with literacy and numeracy?
- As a student with a disability, what kind of support do you offer?
To help you compare, record your answers on the training provider comparison table (PDF, 428KB).
