Make a complaint
If you're having issues with your employer, training organisation or Apprentice Connect Australia Provider (Provider), try our problem-solving tips first.
If you can't resolve the issues, you can lodge a formal complaint.
Complaint against your training organisation
If you're unhappy with your training organisation, you should:
- Understand their responsibilities to make sure they are meeting them.
- Use their dispute resolution process—ask for a copy of the process and follow it.
- If this fails, report it to us, using the apprenticeship and traineeship complaint form.
- If you aren't satisfied with our response to your complaint, you can lodge your complaint with the Queensland Training Ombudsman.
If your complaint is related to the quality of training you are receiving from your training organisation, lodge a complaint with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
Complaint against your Provider
If you're unhappy with your Provider's advice and support, follow these steps:
- Understand their responsibilities to see if they are meeting them.
- Ask for their complaint process and follow it.
- Contact National Training Complaints Hotline.
- If the issue is still not resolved, you can change your Provider.
Complaint against your employer
If you are having issues with your employer, follow these steps:
- Understand their responsibilities to see if they are meeting them.
- Speak to your employer in the first instance to try and resolve the issues.
- If this fails, report it to us, using the apprenticeship and traineeship complaint form.
- If you aren't satisfied with our response to your complaint, you can lodge your complaint with the Queensland Training Ombudsman.
Complaint about wages, entitlements and unfair dismissal
We cannot deal with complaints about these issues—you will need to contact Fair Work Ombudsman.
Complaint about the department
If you are not satisfied with our response to your complaint, you can lodge a complaint with the Queensland Training Ombudsman.
You can also appeal certain decisions made by us, such as:
- an order for discipline
- cancellation of the training contract by the department (in certain circumstances)
- cancellation of your completion certificate for your apprenticeship or traineeship.
Appeals must be made within 21 days of us notifying you about our decision. Lodge an appeal with the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC).
