Change schools during your apprenticeship or traineeship
If you change schools during your school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT), you and your employer need to get the new school's support to continue it.
If your new school agrees, take these steps:
- Negotiate a new timetable for school, work and training (joint responsibility between you, your school, employer and training organisation).
- Review the training plan (joint responsibility between you, your employer and training organisation).
- Notify your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider or us, at Apprenticeships Info, on 1800 210 210 about the change.
If your new school does not support the SAT, you can choose to:
- change to a part-time arrangement and only work and train outside of school hours – you and your employer will need to change your training contract to reflect this
- or
- cancel the training contract and restart later, for example, after graduation.
