Cancel your school-based apprenticeship or traineeship
Common reasons students want to cancel their apprenticeship or traineeship include:
- they find it too demanding (school plus work and training)
- they don't enjoy the work
- they don't get along with their employer
- they are moving schools and the new school won't support the apprenticeship or traineeship
- it's no longer practical
- they are finishing school and don't want to convert to full-time or part-time.
Despite these reasons, cancelling should be your last resort.
Rather than cancelling, there are other options such as:
- changing to part-time (where you work and train outside of school hours)
- changing your qualification
- change ('transfer') to another employer.
Before you decide, talk to:
- your parent or guardian
- your school career counsellor or VET coordinator
- your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider
- us, at Apprenticeships Info.
