Offering courses to overseas students
Education providers that want to offer a course to an overseas student on a student visa in Queensland must obtain school provider approval and be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
The information below refers to school sector providers only.

Legislation
School sector providers must meet State and Commonwealth legislation to obtain and maintain approval.
Legislation includes:
- Commonwealth Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000
- Commonwealth National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018
- Queensland's Education (Overseas Students) Act 2018
- Queensland's Education (Overseas Students) Regulation 2018.

Applying for approval to offer a course to an overseas student in Queensland and registration on CRICOS

Applying to renew your approval to offer a course to an overseas student in Queensland and registration on CRICOS

Please be advised, applications to renew an approval must be made at least 3 months before the term of the approval ends.
Amending your approval to offer a course to an overseas student in Queensland and registration on CRICOS
- Amendment to registration details (CRICOS) (DOCX, 74KB)—amend a provider's registration details including changes to the Principal Executive Officer (PEO), increase and decreases in the approved overseas student capacity, adding or removing a delivery location, and updating the organisation contact details on the Commonwealth's Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS).
- Course amendment form (CRICOS) (DOCX, 75KB)—amend a provider's registered course details including notifying of third-party VET arrangements, new course registrations, course cancellations and updating registered course costs on the Commonwealth's Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS).
- Imposing a school-initiated welfare restriction (CRICOS) (DOCX, 63KB)—apply to request a school-initiated welfare restriction, limiting the school's enrolments to overseas students over 18 years or those accompanied by a parent or immigration department approved relative.
- Removing a school-initiated welfare restriction (CRICOS) (DOCX, 66KB)—apply to remove a school-initiated welfare restriction, to allow the school to assume welfare responsibility for an overseas student under 18 years of age not in the care of a parent or immigration department approved relative.

Queensland fee schedule
Important message regarding the resumption of regulatory fees:
Please be advised, from 1 January 2023, the IQS Unit has recommenced applying fees associated with its regulatory functions. This action mirrors the resumption of the collection of CRICOS fees by the Australian Government's Department of Education.
Schools will receive a corresponding invoice outlining an item description and payment options.
