Old lease applications - Land Holding Act and Katter leases

Applications for leases under the Land Holding Act closed on 21 December 1991.

If you or a relative applied for a lease between 1985 and 1991 and it was approved by the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Council at the time, you may already hold a lease or you may have an entitlement to a lease.

Follow up on a granted lease

If you think you or a relative may have a granted lease, check the published trust area notices for your community. You can purchase a copy of the lease document and current title search from Titles Queensland for your records.

Enquiring about a lease or entitlement to a lease

If you can’t find the details of a lease entitlement, you can enquire with us for more information.  Complete the Land Holding Act enquiry form (PDF) and email it to homeownership@dsdsatsip.qld.gov.au if you would like:

• to find out about your interest in a registered Land Holding Act lease
• to find out about your entitlement to a lease
• information about a Land Holding Act application or lease.

Confirming your identity

If you make an enquiry, someone from the Home Ownership Team will ask you for personal details to ensure you are the right person to talk to about the enquiry.

If you are the leaseholder or lease applicant, we’ll ask you:

• What is your name?
• What is your date of birth?
• Where did you make the application?

If you are enquiring about an application made by a deceased relative, we’ll ask you:

• What is your name?
• What is your date of birth?
• What is your relationship to the deceased?
• What is the deceased’s name?
• What is the deceased’s date of birth?
