Important information for Home Raising program
We've heard from homeowners that market conditions, cost of living pressures and ongoing recovery from flood damage is making it challenging to raise their homes, even with the grant funding currently available.
That's why we are progressing changes to increase funding for eligible works from $100,000 to $150,000. This means eligible homeowners will have access to an additional $50,000 of government funding before they need to contribute.
This will enable more homeowners to raise their homes and protect more homes from future flooding events.
The additional $50,000 for eligible works will become available after parliamentary process to amend the Rural and Regional Adjustment Regulation 2011 is enacted.
We will keep you updated on this process and provide regular information in our e-newsletters and on the website.
In the meantime, we encourage homeowners to progress their funding application to QRIDA. When this additional funding is available, we will provide details on how and when to apply for up to $150,000 for eligible works.
If you've commenced or completed resilience works, this additional funding can be reimbursed once it's available and your application is approved by QRIDA.
What this means:
If you are eligible for the Home Raising program, (including demolish and rebuild or relocate), you will be eligible for funding of up to $150,000 for eligible works.
This funding is to raise your home above the 2021-2022 flood event level and the assessed flood level.
This includes homeowners assessed under the recently expanded home raise eligibility criteria through a one-on-one appointment and who received their eligibility letter from us.
Some important points to note
- We recommend finding a builder and submitting your application and quotes through the QRIDA portal as soon as possible as it can take 12 months to complete a complex home raise.
- If you’re not sure what works are eligible, you can speak to your builder or contact the RHF team on 3007 4485 (Option 2) or 13 QGOV (13 74 68) during business hours (9am to 5pm).
- You may also qualify for an additional dollar-for-dollar co-contribution from the fund for eligible works over $150,000. This will depend on the program you are eligible to apply for. In cases of genuine financial hardship, you can apply to have your co-contribution waived.
Please be patient. We’ll continue to keep you across how and when to apply.
