We’re helping homeowners affected by the January and February 2025 North and Far North Queensland floods make their homes more resilient.
Grants are restricted to 1 application per household.
You may be eligible for the grant if you meet all of the following criteria:
Your home’s building footprint was inundated during the 29 January - 28 February 2025 North and Far North Queensland Tropical Low event. Please note
the building footprint includes the outermost extent of the home (that is, the extent of the roof), external areas around the home's perimeter, external essential services, and the area under the home.
inundation from floodwaters are waters that rise or run over land via creek, overland flow or river, not storm damage (for example, a leaky roof).
Your home is a residence. This means your home is a house, unit, granny flat, or manufactured home that is not used primarily for business purposes.
You're the homeowner or property owner. You will need to provide a rates notice or register of title to prove ownership.
Your home is in an eligible local government area.
Important: You must submit photos with your application that show your home was flooded during this flood event.
Insurance considerations
The grant is available to both insured and uninsured homeowners.
If your resilience works are being carried out under your insurance claim, we’ll pay your approved grant directly to your insurance company.
If you have taken an insurance payout, we’ll pay the grant directly to your contractor (that is, the builder or tradesperson doing the work).
For insurance works, the grant must address the gap between ‘like-for-like’ repairs and longer-term resilience. For example, rather than replacing damaged items with new items, the grant will cover the cost to raise power points or install a resilient material.
Your insurer/insurer builder must provide you with an itemised quote clearly detailing the betterment portion of each resilience strategy.
Thinking of selling your home?
All building works and payments need to be finalised with completion verified before selling your home. Applications cannot be transferred.
