Business analysts help to make sure the business side of Queensland Government is supported by the very best business solutions. Graduate business analysts are key facilitators, acting as a bridge between the business areas and technical teams. They assist to analyse business and operational requirements to improve business processes—helping to deliver better services to the Queensland community. Business analysts need technology understanding, but don’t necessarily need a technical degree.

  • identifying and documenting business problems
  • supporting research into business change costs/benefits analysis of solutions

  • using your modelling skills to understand complex organisational issues

Technical skills and qualifications

Business analysts require a broad range of modelling skills including business process modelling.

Your degree may be in information technology, information systems, business, business computing, commerce or accounting.

The digital integrator graduate assists to support successful integration of digital services with existing and emerging services. As a digital integrator you will need to be a future thinker. You will be looking at how government can take advantage of existing digital tools, as well as understanding how these tools can be used to improve customer services.

Responsibilities in a digital integrator role may include:

  • researching digital trends to facilitate government’s transition to digital
  • communicating your ideas with colleagues and managers to streamline services to the public
  • analysing how digital will impact the Australian IT landscape
  • building relationships across multiple government agencies. You will assist to guide agencies towards the digital future, helping them see the benefits of a “one government” approach
  • supporting the adoption of cloud services including infrastructure, platform and software
  • identifying application programming interface (API) opportunities. You will scope how agencies currently use APIs and see where advancements can be made
  • understanding business assurance and information security requirements.

Ideal candidates

Ideal candidates for a digital integrator role will have:

  • the ability to analyse business requirements and offer solutions
  • a good understanding of the current strategies and policies related to digital
  • good research skills with the ability to capture research in succinct reports
  • good interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to liaise with clients.

Technical skills and qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • digital integration
  • IT infrastructure (networks, servers, storage, security, etc.)
  • application and systems integration, interfaces, standards and middleware
  • cloud computing platforms.

Your degree may be in information technology, computer science or engineering.

A mobile platform application developer graduate assists to interpret business, system and service requirements to design and develop compelling mobile user experiences and applications. You will have the opportunity to assist to deliver better internal services within government and make improvements to the mobile service the Queensland community receives.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities in a mobile platform application developer role may include:

  • contributing to mobile application design and development for iOS and Android platforms
  • gaining hands-on experience using associated development environments and tools
  • assisting in interfacing mobile applications with backend web services and APIs
  • assisting with the research and trend analysis and testing of new mobile platforms.

Ideal candidates

Ideal candidates for a mobile platform application developer role will have:

  • experience designing and developing mobile applications
  • an understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • experience in one or more popular programming languages
  • analytical skills, be solutions focused and have good writing skills.

Technical skills and qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • developing native, cross-platform or hybrid mobile applications
  • user interface design, wireframing and screen mock-ups
  • using source code control systems, testing and publishing mobile applications
  • native mobile device functionality and sensors (e.g. mobile push notifications, geolocation).
