Book, change or cancel your ceremony at the Brisbane registry
You can book your ceremony date before your interview appointment or change or cancel the ceremony date you have already booked with us.
If you have booked your ceremony with a private civil marriage celebrant, civil partnership notary or church, please contact them directly.
Choose your ceremony date
You may choose your ceremony date before your interview appointment or if you live outside of Southeast Queensland and can’t attend an interview appointment with us.
Contact us to check which of your 3 preferred ceremony dates are available.
We will check the dates before contacting you to make payment to book your date and let you know what to do next.
You will have to submit your completed and signed notice of intended marriage application form along with proof of ID and eligibility documents. Bring these along to your interview appointment. If you can’t come to an interview appointment, you can tell us when completing the request below.
If we don’t receive your application and supporting documents at least 1 month before your ceremony date, you may not be able to have your ceremony on your chosen date.

Change your ceremony
There is no charge for the first date change if you contact us to change it at least 2 weeks before the ceremony date you have booked.
If you don't give the required notice, you will:
- lose the original booking fee
- need to pay a new booking fee
- need to book a new ceremony date.
If you change your ceremony date more than once, you will be required to pay an additional booking fee.
Cancel your ceremony
If you contact us to cancel at least 1 month before your current ceremony date, we will refund the ceremony fee and certificate fee (if applicable). The booking fee is not refunded.
The refund will be made to the person who paid for the ceremony.
You will lose the full fee paid if:
- we have not been contacted about the cancellation at least 1 month before the booked date
- you don't show up for your ceremony.
