Victim Assist application process

If you use our online form to apply, your application will be securely emailed to Victim Assist Queensland. You will receive a submission ID number. This is a temporary reference number.

When your application is registered, you will receive an email that:

  • tells you what happens next
  • includes your permanent application reference number.

Save this reference number—you will need it if you contact us about your application.

After your application is registered, we will review it. This is to confirm whether you are eligible and to see if you can get an immediate payment.

We will fully assess your application to make sure you are provided with all available supports.

If you have experienced violence at work (or travelling to or from work) please contact your workers compensation provider.

Many workplaces have an employee assistance program. To find out more, we recommend you speak to your employer.

Financial assistance may be available through WorkCover Queensland or another workers compensation provider. Call WorkCover Queensland on 1300 362 128 if you have questions.

After your workers compensation process is finalised, you may also apply for financial assistance through Victim Assist Queensland. Learn about work-related violence claims.

You may be able to get compensation if you have been injured by a motor vehicle crash that wasn’t your fault (or you were only partly responsible for). You can make a claim with the compulsory third party (CTP) insurer of the vehicle that caused the crash.

Contact the Motor Accident Insurance Commission on 1800 287 753 for more information.

If you were seriously injured by a dangerous driver, email VictimAssist@justice.qld.gov.au for more information after your insurance process is finalised. You may qualify for other financial assistance through Victim Assist Queensland.
