Help for victims who were born overseas

If you have been injured by a crime that happened in Queensland, Australia, we may be able to help you.

You may have been injured in the streets, at a club, at home, at work, at school or at university. We are sorry that this has happened to you and we want to help you recover.

It does not matter where you normally live. If someone injured you in our state, the Queensland Government will help you.

We can help you find a support service that is right for you.

We might be able to help:

  • pay for you to go to a doctor or counsellor
  • with lost wages if you had to take time off work.

If you do not live in Australia, email VictimAssist@justice.qld.gov.au.

If you do not speak English well, please tell us the language you usually speak and we will organise an interpreter.

Reporting the crime

You should see a doctor as soon as possible and ask them to assess your injuries. Please request a medical certificate from the doctor.

You should report the crime to Queensland Police

If a crime is happening or has just happened, you should phone triple zero (000) immediately.
