Support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims of crime
We help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims of violent crime (including domestic and family violence).
We might be able to give you a one-off special assistance payment if:
- you were injured (physically or psychologically)
- your injury was caused by a violent crime
- the violent crime was committed in Queensland.
If a close family member has died, we might be able to give you a one-off distress payment if it:
- was a homicide
- happened in Queensland.
We might also pay for other things like:
- medical and counselling bills
- moving costs, if you need to move to get away from the violence
- security costs to help keep you safe at home.
To make a claim you need to fill in our application forms.
