Ongoing training for licensed bodyguards or crowd controllers
As a licensed bodyguard or crowd controller, you must keep your knowledge of industry standards and techniques up to date through ongoing training. You will need to complete ongoing training every 3 years.
The following modules will:
- be very important for your work
- keep you up to date with the latest industry standards and techniques.
You need to do your training through a registered training organisation. Use the My Skills website to find a training provider.
When we send your licence, we will give you the expiry dates for each ongoing training unit on the licence notice. You must complete the ongoing training units again before the due date.
We will not recognise any prior learning for these units.

Resuscitation training
It’s also a requirement that you complete a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) component. The CPR component must be refreshed every 12 months.
The CPR module is: Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation—HLTAID009.
You are responsible for making sure that this stays up to date.

Submit your results
You will need to report that you have completed your training. When you do, you must include your official:
- statement of attainment
- record of results.
Your training provider will issue these documents.
You can face disciplinary action if you don’t lodge them on time. This may result in us cancelling your bodyguard or crowd controller licence.
Student visa holders
It is an offence under the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 for a registered training organisation to provide training to an international student on a student visa, unless the organisation is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
If you hold a student visa, you must ensure the training organisation you complete training through is CRICOS registered.
This requirement also applies to the ongoing training units that need to be completed by crowd controllers and bodyguards.
Note: Training for each specified unit of competency must actually be completed through the CRICOS registered training provider. We will not accept a training certificate issued by a CRICOS registered training provider with the result of credit transfer.
