Ongoing training for licensed bodyguards

As a licensed bodyguard, you must keep your knowledge of industry standards and techniques up to date through ongoing training. You need to complete ongoing training every 3 years.

  • The dates you need to complete ongoing training are provided with your licence—you must complete the required training units before their expiry dates.
  • You're responsible for completing required training and submitting your results before the expiry date.
  • Your licence can be cancelled if you don't complete your training.

Every 3 years

You must complete these training modules every 3 years to refresh your knowledge and skills:

We don't recognise prior learning for these units.

Submit your results

At least 2 months before your licence expires, you must send us your official statement of attainment and record of results as proof you've completed your training. Your training provider will issue these documents.

You can face disciplinary action if you don't lodge them on time. This may result in us cancelling your bodyguard licence.

You can submit them by:

Student visa holders

If you hold a student visa, you must ensure the training organisation you use is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

It's an offence for training organisations that aren't registered on the CRICOS to provide training to international students on student visas.

Note: We won't accept a training certificate showing a credit transfer. You must actually complete the training in each unit of competency.
